Inspection and maintenance planning for deteriorating engineering systems and structures
Clients: Maersk Oil and Gas; Pemex, Exploración y Producción; Det Norske Veritas; among others

Risk-based inspection planning (RBI) procedures
allow identifying cost optimal inspection strategies for deteriorating
structures which comply with given risk acceptance criteria. By
combining the Bayesian decision analysis with structural reliability
analysis, RBI procedures for structures utilize probabilistic
state-of-the-art models of the deterioration processes and the
inspection performances to determine optimal inspection and
maintenenance strategies.
To
efficiently include risk-based inspecion planning into the daily asset
integrity management, the software iPlan has been developped. With
iPlan, the determination of risk-based inspection plans is
straightforward and requires no specialist knowledge on structural
reliability. Using iPlan, the determination of inspection plans for an
entire structure is highly efficient and can be performed within hours.
iPlan benefits:
- iPlan facilitates the optimization of the expensive inspection and maintenance efforts for the structural parts of the installation using state-of-the-art models
- No specialist knowledge on structural reliability analysis and fracture mechanics is required.
- iPlan allows to ensure an acceptable and uniform level of reliability throughout the installations.
- iPlan is based on Excel and thus includes all its functionalities.
